The highlight of the experience is playing a “fantasy” match on the club’s stadium pitch.

Currently based in London, England, FC Sport Experiences founder Mike Mahoney has worked internationally in intellectual property rights licensing for sports and entertainment brands for many years. Having partnered with some of the most prominent sports and entertainment organizations in the world including Manchester United, the National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Soccer (MLS), NASCAR, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Simon & Schuster, and CBS, Mike brings considerable expertise and knowledge to FC Sport Experiences.

An avid sports fan and participant, he decided to apply his business background as a Chartered Accountant and subsequently as a sport and games marketing and licensing consultant to the world of English football and rugby and the strong relationship fans have with their club teams. He decided that the best way to share his passion for sport was to create unique, immersive, exclusive fantasy sports experiences.

Global Ireland Football Tournament (GIFT) 2012

Working with established sports event company Global Football, Mike hosted two Canadian high school football teams at GIFT 2012, a series of high school football games staged by twelve North American schools on the eve of the September 2012 Notre Dame-Navy Emerald Isle Classic football game held at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

In addition to participating in the first ever Canadian-rules high school football game played outside of North America, the teams, their accompanying coaches, administrators, parents and supporters enjoyed a unique cultural and educational experience.

Our football program was very fortunate to have been invited to participate in an event of this magnitude. I feel even more fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Mike throughout the entire experience. From the very beginning Mike offered valuable advice concerning fundraising, legal issues arising from international travel as well as a wide variety of organizational concerns.” Stu Nixon, Teacher/Head Football Coach, Oak Park High School, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

As host and event coordinator-producer, Mike organized sightseeing visits to Kilmainham Gaol, Guinness Brewery, Croke Park, Trinity College and Trim Castle. He also arranged for visiting student athletes, parents and coaches to conduct North American football clinics at local schools and Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) sides, and organized evenings at local GAA football clubs Bray Emmets and Navan O’Mahony’s during which students played hurling and Gaelic Football with the local host clubs’ players and coaches, and the Irish clubs learned to play gridiron football.

This was one of the highlights of the summer for our players [and] a very welcome diversion from normal training and competition. The parents, coaches and players from [Canadian High School] Oak Park were delighted with the opportunity to experience Gaelic Games and cited this as the highlight of their visit to Ireland. Mike made it happen and I, with all the management team at Bray Emmets, would be delighted to have the opportunity to work with [him] again.” John McMahon, Juvenile Chairman, Bray Emmets GAA Club
